How to Make Deals in SimCity Creator

Since FAQs for this game are basically non-existent, and the in-game tutorial doesn’t even give you a proper lesson on how to do this, here is a simple guide on how to create deals in SimCity Creator for the Wii.

WARNING: Neighbor deals do not work in CHEAT difficulty
This is the only downside to using Cheat instead of Basic difficulty or higher.

First of all, to be able to make a deal, you must already have an existing city. You cannot make deals with only one city. This is because deals are basically a two-way transaction. One city must act as a supplier, and the other city must be the consumer. You must also make connections to your neighboring city depending on which deal you want to make. Here is a more detailed guide for the various deals:

Power Deals

To make a power deal, you must have a power connection to a neighboring city. To make a power connection outside, select the power line tool and drag it until it is outside the city grid. The game will prompt you to make a power connection and select YES.

To sell power, you must have a neighbor with a deficiency in power with a neighbor connection and have surplus power in your city. Go to your budget menu, select the Deals tab and set the Power deal to SELL. When the next month starts, the deal will take into effect and money will come pouring into your city.

To buy power, you must have an existing city with surplus power that has an outside power connection. At the same time, your city should also have a neighbor power connection. Then just set your power deals into BUY and a fee will automatically be deducted every month on your budget.

Water Deals

To make a water deals, the supplier and consumer cities must both have a neighboring pipe connection. To do this, select the underground pipe tool and click and drag it until it extends outside the city borders. When the game prompts you to make a neighbor connection, select YES.

To sell water, just make sure that you have enough supplies from your pumps and water towers and set the Water deals on your budget tab to SELL.

To buy water, just set the water deal tab to BUY.

Garbage Deals

To make a garbage deal, the cities involved must both have a neighboring connection in the form of any of the following:

  • Neighbor Road Connection
  • Neighbor Rail Connection
  • Neighbor Highway Connection
  • Seaport

Making an outside connection with the roads, rails and highways is similar to that of a neighbor pipeline / power line connection. Just drag the appropriate tool to outside of your city borders.

To import garbage, just set the Garbage deals tab to IMPORT.
To export garbage, just set the Garbage deals tab to EXPORT.

And as usual, the change in your balance sheet will occur on the start of the next month.

Tips, Tricks and (almost) Cheats

Ever wonder why making money is quite hard in this version of Sim City? Well, it because the neighbor deals are basically broken. What happens is that the game only considers the demand / supply on your last save for that city, irregardless of the time period.

So what does this mean? Well basically you can create a large city normally with all of its utilities. When you have capped the population to your liking, PAUSE the game and intentionally sabotage your city by destroying all power, water, and garbage utilities and set the deals for all of them to BUY / EXPORT. From now on, when you create new cities, earning money is as simple as adding a new water pump!

Another advantage of neighbor deals is that it raises the maximum population cap of a city. Instead of wasting space building the utilities (espescially 4×4 Power plants at early game), why not use them for zoning more residential zones?

Hope this helps anyone who are having problems with the game.
