Before reading this walkthrough, please see first the general tips for the normal playthrough of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King.
I will assume that you have now known the basics since this will be your second playthrough of the game.
A run of very hard mode will just take you about 10 hours to complete due to carrying over data from your previous playthrough. The only difference from your normal playthrough is that enemy levels are higher, and the last dungeon is a level 100 dungeon. So let’s start with the walkthrough.
- First of all, it is very important to plan your building placements ahead of time to increase the efficiency of stats and levelling up. You can use this tool to help you plan ahead of time.
- If you have the racial houses DLC, take advantage of them since these races will have predefined jobs. It will be a long time before you can get your first gaming hall.
- Early in-game, elementites will be your limiting factor in the development of your city. So build wisely. You can actually hold-off building a Bakery until later when elementite is overflowing.
- And have I already said to build wisely? You won’t be able to dismantle buildings until you get your first White Mage / Black Mage Academy.
- You are only required to create 3 small houses, afterwards, never build one again. Its simply too inefficient. If you have the racial houses, use them. Otherwise, use spacious houses.
- Unlock the large houses as soon as possible. 47/50 of your entire residential area will be composed solely of this building type. The other 3 will be composed of Luxurious houses (if you unlocked them last playthrough).
- Be careful on who you hire, you will only have 5 adventurers for the early part of the game. take note that your characters from last playthrough will be carried over. Their medals, equipments, and skills will all be carried over, but their levels will not.
- Although your characters carry over skills and equipment, they can’t use them if they haven’t met a certain level requirements. Don’t fret though, they can still sell them for funds for buying new equipment.
- As much as possible, reward the behavior medals (special medals minus the stat+ medals) as early in-game as possible. Doing so in future missions will miss your chance in gaining better stat gains.
- Want an easier strategy? Focus all of your medals to a few members of your army. My recommendation? Make a super buffed black mage and a super buffed warrior/thief. The give them the vanguard and preemptive medals for an easy levelling/win. For their town behavior, you can either choose treehugger or tavern lurker to keep their morales high.
- Remember the special stat+ medals(Strength+, Intellect+, etc) you get as a reward from your previous playthrough? How it works is that it doubles the stat-gain you would usually get. The best way to use these is to only use them at boss fights later in-game to maximize stat growth. A good indicator on when to use this is when the regular stat bonus is 15 or above. The final lv100 Titan boss gives around 24 stat points (48 with stat+ medals).
- Did most of your adventurers die? Then time to make use of the holiday behest. Make sure to visit the houses of all your fallen warriors to get them back to work the next day.
- Maximize the Inn at their full potential. Inns provide higher level adventurers to help you explore areas (and have your own kill the boss directly).
- A good general rule in upgrading shops and skills, is to always have the upgrade level 10 levels higher than the level of your adventurers.
- It is also good to prioritize which to upgrade first. Black Mage skills, Weapons, Armors and Battle Skills have the highest priority. Don’t ever bother with antidotes since poisoning will be the least of your problems.
- Shape-shifting dungeons? Send a thief with the mapper ability everyday to that area to explore it fully.
- At the end-game, the limiting factor will be money. Be prepared to talk to all people just to raise your daily tithes
During this 10-hour VERY HARD mode run, here is my score:
My Final Score: A / SS / SSS : Total – S
not bad at all (when I skipped most of the days afters choosing adventurers and closing behests).
