Super Mario Galaxy: A Week’s History

The Japanese sure are crazy serious about playing games. Just check out Super Mario Galaxy’s story within the week of its launch. Within just a 6 day span, everything about the game has already been unlocked. As posted on /v/:

  • November 1 (morning): Game released.
  • November 1 (afternoon): First person reports beating game with 60 stars.
  • November 2 (morning): First person reports beating game with 120 stars.
  • November 2 (evening): First person completes the Grand Finale Galaxy for the best ending.
  • November 3: Japanese SMG wiki (http://mariogalaxy.so.land.to/) completely finished with walkthroughs for every star available in-game.
  • November 4: The last of the game’s 100% completion footage gets posted to Nicovideo
  • November 5: Surfing records stand at ~56″ for trial course, and ~53″ for challenge course.
  • November 7: Coin records for all 42 levels maxed out.
  • Do the Japanese even sleep at all?
