jQuery: Textbox Validation and the blur() Event

Here is another jQuery tutorial demonstrating how to perform text validations using jQuery’s blur() event.

Its a fact that client-side client validation is no alternative to server-side validation especially in web applications. However, that doesn’t mean that we should drop client-side validation altogether. The truth is that client-side validation enhances a web application. First, the client-side validations provide a more responsive interface for users. Secondly, for a very large enterprise-grade application, shifting some of the validations on the client as a first pass filter will reduce the load on the server and improve its performance.

Now let’s move on to the tutorial. First of all, I’m going to use a simple registration form as an example for validation. Here is the demo for this tutorial:

Username: Username must be at least 4 characters in length

Password: Password must be at least 6 characters in length

Another gaming breakthrough is making news. It seems that somebody had successfully transformed a tablet PC into a Giant DS! The project is currently called the Jumbotron DS. You can see additional screenshots of the project at the Jumbotron DS website.

In the following video below, you can see him playing different games like Mario Kart DS, Kirby Canvas Curse and Meteos on the tablet PC. Now that’s quite an awesome achievement. It’ll be certainly fun playing Ouendan or EBA on the Jumbotron

Mushihime-sama: Hardest Game in History

WTF… This arcade game from 2004 must be truly one of the hardest games in history. Even a single pixel mistake in this game will cost you your life. Check out the video of the final boss stage, and scream in horror. The developers of this game must have a sadistic sense of humor making this game as agonizingly hard as possible.

Amazingly, some people have developed the skills to beat the Ultra mode of this game with only one token.

Eevee Papercraft TemplateHere is another Pokemon papercraft template for the /po/ boards. Have some Eevee for this week. The color is a bit off to the red though, but otherwise the template is okay.

I’ll try to upload the rest of the papercraft PDF templates so you can have something to look forward to by next week. Some of them really need some clean-up since some of the scans have faded colors which looks terrible when printed. Once I have the time, I’ll start converting those PDF’s into image files instead. That is if I have some extra free time on the Wiikends

Final Fantasy 4 Battle Theme: Mario Paint Remix

Remember the Mario Paint game from the old SNES days? It seems some people have composed songs from different genres using the limited samples from music generator. This one in particular is the battle theme from Final Fantasy 4 (FF2 in the US). Now that’s old school.
