Market-based vs. Marketing-based

One of the things I hate the most is how the large difference between the marketing of a product versus the real product. To simply put it, the more resources a company puts into its marketing campaign, the less resources it puts into maintaining the product. For example, a company can make a great game and let it market itself, or it can also create a crappy product and advertise it ad nauseum.

In the real world, usually it isn’t really the best products that win the market. Its often the best marketed. We’ve come to a point in time where marketing fluff has now more weight than actual value.

If we want to break free of this marketing cycle, we must do all of our best to share our genuine experiences with a product. If we like a product, we must spread the word and let the whole world know. If it doesn’t live up to the hype that it promises, then it deserves to die a slow death on the open market.

take the music industry, even if you have the greatest voice but don’t have the looks, you’ll never get a deal with famous famous labels :p

and it will be very hard to break free from these norms that society made, because money talks not principles. you get paid alot and hailed for being a good liar while you will be shot down if side with the truth, not genereally speaking but most >:)

yeah, the music industry right now has the most dysfunctional business model. They sell through image, not through quality, and expect people to buy crappy albums at a HIGH price.
