It seems that I had encountered another hurdle in the development of my GC Calc. The problem is that in doing research on the overall output damage, you must have to find all the variables affecting it. And testing it was another issue altogether. One of the major hurdles I encountered was determining whether the provoke status (either through players provoking you, aloe vera effect, or auto-berserk status) had a major impact on GC damage. It might seem logical at first since provoke lv10 will add 32% to your ATK output. This will also mean that the physical part of GC damage will be multiplied by 132%.
However, my experiences with auto-berserk was very different from what I had expected. I noticed that there was significantly no measurable difference between the provoked and un-provoked status. So I had to do my own tests:
In my first test, I had to use my own paladin. However, due to its high INT stat, we must choose a monster with a very high MDEF and low DEF, so we could minimize the effect of the MATK portion of GC. So I chose Bathories as the test monster. According to Doddler’s RO Stat Calc, given my paladin’s stats, he should have a minimum damage of 2927 under the auto-berserk status. However in reality, when I tested it against bathories, the minimum damage was lower than the expected value:
However, the validity of this test is unreliable. First of all, the calculator might have had some errors in my GC calculation for one, and secondly, we cannot completely eliminate the effect of INT. Fortunately, a friend of mine who has a Rapid Smite Paladin name Rama came in to help.
His RS Paladin had the best stats to test the hypothesis. First of all, the high STR and DEX will make sure that the ATK portion of the equation is higher and a little bit more consistent than the MATK portion. Secondly, he has low MATK range of 49-69 versus his base ATK of 350+ which would make the effect of auto-berserk even more prominent. And here’s the results. Test monster selected this time was a Poring:
